Vintage Makes The Come Back

Throughout the history of logo design and business signage, current trends of each era have dictated the look and feel of the image that is conveyed. By the 1800’s, mass marketing exposure was made available through the proliferation of newspapers in every American city. During the America’s civil war era, major markets like New York supported hundreds of daily newspapers as a content-hungry population devoured information at a voracious rate.

However, it was not until the 1920’s and 30’s that we saw the birth of mass marketing as we know it today. It ushered in the golden age of brand marketing. Mass transportation gave way to media opportunities such as billboards, daily newspapers and monthly magazine distribution. Consumer access through a new invention called the radio gave birth to the advertising jingles that to this day have ingrained themselves into our American psyche. By the 1950’s the ubiquitous television became permeated into every household.

Adobe CS6 - Find out whats new in CS6

The Adobe CS series is one of the most popular graphic design and layout tools that is used by designers and artists around the world today. While there was a time that the several different resources came packages separately, the CS series was designed to make things simpler, by creating an all in one package where users could download several image editors and template creators at once, without paying excessive fees. Each release has come with more improvements for the end user, and Adobe CS6 is certainly no different. Here are  some of the top advancements you can find with Adobe’s latest release of Adobe CS6.

The UI

It’s been more than two years since Adobe released a new version of CS, so we’re not really astonished that they’ve updated the UI to make it a little more appealing to the user. The once grey interface is now a very dark grey, almost black. The layout is much more refined than any of their releases, and almost has a Mac feel too it. It’ll take a little bit of getting used to, but soon, you’ll find that this layout works much better than previous versions.

Photoshop - Digital Image Editing Software

Graphic designers need three things to be successful: creativity, a steady hand, and an intricate piece of software that will allow them to edit images as they see fit. While only Mom and Dad can truly do something about the first two details, there are several options of software for graphic designers to use. As each one develops, more and more features are included that make graphic designer’s jobs much easier. Though each has their benefits, no program has been more reliable for booth simple an advanced editing than Adobe Photoshop.

Adobe Photoshop, during its inception, had a fraction of the capabilities that it does today. At first release, there were hardly any artistic features, and the toolbox was half the size. Layering was a pain for most graphic designers. By today’s standards, the first release of Photoshop would be quickly tossed in the trash and disregarded. However, at the time it was first released, it gained immediate popularity for its functionality in both the professional and personal worlds.

Throwable Ball Camera

Throwable Ball Camera Captures Panoramic Images. Taking pictures is about to get a lot more fun if computer engineer Jonas Pfeil and his colleagues have anything to say about it. A recent graduate from the Technical University of Berlin, Pfeil and his team designed and built a working prototype "ball" camera- a foam-studded sphere (about 8 inches in diameter) peppered with 36 tiny 2-megapixel cell phone cameras. Throw it in the air and it captures an image at the top of the ball's trajectory. Talk about redefining photography- one day, snapping pics may give way to "tossing" them.
