If a WordPress site needs a filtered product list and a booking modal, jQuery will do it in an afternoon using libraries the theme already loads. The same job in a framework means a build pipeline, a deployment process and a dependency tree — for two features.
We are not sentimental about it. We just think the tool should match the size of the problem, and on a lot of small jobs jQuery still does.

Is jQuery dead?
No, but it is no longer the default for new projects. Browsers have caught up on most of what jQuery was invented to smooth over. It still runs on a very large share of existing sites, including most WordPress themes, and those sites still need maintaining.
Should we remove jQuery from our site?
Only if it buys you something. On a WordPress site where the theme and several plugins load it anyway, removing your own use of it changes nothing. If it is the only script on an otherwise lean page, dropping it is worth a look.
Why do our plugins keep conflicting?
Usually because more than one of them loads its own copy of jQuery, or one expects a version another has replaced. It is one of the most common WordPress problems we are called in for, and it is nearly always fixable without removing any of the plugins.
Can you fix a script another developer wrote?
Yes — a good share of our jQuery work is exactly that. We read what is there, work out what it was meant to do, and fix it. If it is beyond saving we will tell you what rewriting it costs before starting.
Will jQuery slow our site down?
The library itself is small and usually cached. What slows sites down is a decade of accumulated scripts loading on every page whether they are used or not. That is the part worth auditing, and it is often the cheapest speed win available.
