I wanted to make a video that reviews a news story by CNBC titled “Will the U.S. Government Break Up Google?”. Google has had a clear monopoly on search since essentially the start of the public internet. In this video, I will provide my opinions on the Google monopoly and how this affects our and our client’s businesses. If a formal breakup of Google’s core business units—such as divesting the Chrome browser or the Android operating system—were to occur, we would likely see a massive shift in the digital marketing landscape. A decentralized search market could mean that SEO and PPC professionals would no longer be beholden to a single set of algorithms. Instead, we could see a ‘renaissance’ of specialized search engines that prioritize different factors like privacy, localized results, or AI-driven synthesis. For businesses, this means the ‘all eggs in one basket’ approach to Google rankings will become a thing of the past, requiring a more diversified and agile digital strategy to capture visibility across multiple competing platforms.
