Before learning JavaScript there are a few concepts you should understand before beginning JavaScript. First basic math skills are a necessity, so much of programming is based on math and solutions that without a strong foundation in math you will struggle. The second concept you should grasp is HTML or the structure of the website and the CSS or design of the website.
